LeBron James and Drake’s Friendship Continues to Drift Apart

The friendship between NBA star LeBron James and rapper Drake appears to be fading. On Monday (Feb. 17), LeBron shared an Instagram Story of himself working out with his daughter, Zhuri, while Kendrick Lamar’s album Good Kid, M.A.A.D City played in the background.

Earlier, LeBron had attended an event for his Lobos 1707 Tequila brand, and in another Instagram Story, Kendrick’s song Not Like Us could be heard playing in the club.

Coincidentally, Drake has just released a new album with PartyNextDoor, but LeBron has not posted about it. This comes after LeBron missed the 2025 NBA All-Star Game over the weekend due to an injury.

LeBron’s Support for Kendrick Lamar

This is not the first time LeBron has publicly enjoyed Kendrick’s music since the rapper’s feud with Drake became public.

LeBron was seen dancing to Not Like Us at a party shortly after the song’s release in May and again during a Los Angeles Lakers game in December. He also went viral for rapping Kendrick’s song Man at the Garden at his 40th birthday party in December.

Drake Responds Through Music

Drake has hinted at feeling betrayed by LeBron and other friends following his fallout with Kendrick. In December, he released Fighting Irish Freestyle, where he appeared to address the situation:

“The world fell in love with the gimmicks, even my brothers got tickets…
Just know this sh*t is personal to us, and it wasn’t just business.”

Drake also referenced LeBron in the song, recalling their shared love for luxury watches:

“Remember we traded watches? I gave you that Arabic dial, you gave me a numbered edition.
You would even check up on my son like a paediatrician.”

Drake Changes Lyrics About LeBron

At a recent concert in Australia, Drake made a change to his song “Nonstop”, which originally referenced LeBron’s jersey numbers:

“How I go from 6 to 23 like I’m LeBron?”

Instead, he performed a new version:

“How I go from 6 to 23 but not LeBron, man.”

Drake has not yet responded to LeBron’s latest posts featuring Kendrick’s music, but it seems their once-close friendship may never be the same.
