LeBron James Edges Closer to Lakers Return After Training With G-League Team

LeBron James has taken a major step towards returning to action for the Los Angeles Lakers after joining the team’s G-League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, for practice in El Segundo, California, on Wednesday.

The 39-year-old has missed the start of the NBA season due to sciatica, a nerve problem affecting the right side of his lower body. However, his participation in full practice suggests he is nearing a comeback.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick confirmed James’ involvement, describing it as his first practice session of the season. Speaking before the Lakers’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Redick said the reports from the session were encouraging.

“He was able to participate in the practice,” Redick explained. “He joined in warm-up drills, did some transition work, and even played around 12 to 15 possessions of live 5-on-5 basketball. He looked good.”

James, who is entering his 23rd NBA season, remains the league’s all-time leading scorer. Despite his absence, the Lakers have made a strong start to the campaign, winning eight of their first 11 games.

His potential return will be a huge boost for the team as they continue their push for another championship run.
