LeBron James shines as Lakers defeat Pelicans after Spurs victory

The Los Angeles Lakers secured a hard-fought 102-99 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night, building on their impressive win against the San Antonio Spurs just a day earlier.

Despite playing on consecutive nights, the Lakers managed to overcome fatigue and maintain their strong start to the season, improving their record to 9-4.

Rookie forward Dalton Knecht had a standout performance, scoring a career-high 25 points, including five three-pointers. Anthony Davis also played a pivotal role, finishing with 31 points and 14 rebounds.

LeBron James delivered a clutch performance in the final moments of the game. Although he struggled with his shooting early on, missing his first five three-point attempts, the 39-year-old came alive when it mattered most.

With less than two minutes remaining, James made a crucial three-pointer to put the Lakers ahead 98-97. Moments later, he nailed another three-pointer off a pick-and-roll, extending the lead to 101-97. James finished the game with 21 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

The Pelicans, who were missing key players, struggled to find their rhythm, especially with their lineup affected by injuries.

The Lakers will now take a short break before hosting the Utah Jazz on Tuesday in the NBA Cup Group Play, starting a three-game homestand.

The win marked the Lakers’ fifth consecutive victory.
