Bayern Munich and Poland star, Robert Lewandowski continued his brilliant goalscoring form as he scored a well-taken brace to sink African champions, Al-Ahly SC of Egypt in the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar. The European champions avoided an upset as they secured a 2-0 win to cement a place in the final where they will face CONCACAF Champions, Tigres.
Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 17th minute after he slotted home from just outside the 6-yard box after he received the ball from Serge Gnabry. He sealed the result late in the game in the 85th minute as he steered a header into an empty net after Leroy Sane’s cross went over the head of the goalkeeper.
Bayern Munich and Lewandowski will now face Mexican side, Tigres who became the first CONCACAF side to reach the final of the CWC when they defeated Palmeiras 1-0 thanks to a late strike from Andre Pierre Gignac. The final which is to take place on the 11th of February is expected to be a showdown between Gignac and Lewandowski, both of whom have had impressive scoring streaks this season. Lewandowski has found the net 29 times in only 27 appearances, while Gignac has scored 17 goals in 23 games in 2020/21.
