Lionel Messi reveals retirement plans

In a recent interview on the Big Time Podcast, football icon Lionel Messi shared insights into his retirement plans, shedding light on when he might bid farewell to the beautiful game.

At 36 years old, the World Cup winner and 8-time Ballon d’Or recipient expressed a keen awareness of his own abilities and enjoyment level, indicating that age alone won’t dictate his retirement.

“I am very self-critical of myself,” Messi revealed. “I know when I’m good, when I’m bad, when I play well and when I play badly. When I feel it’s time to take that step, I will take it without thinking about age. I know that moment I feel I am no longer ready to perform, that I am no longer enjoying myself or helping my teammates.”

Despite recent minor injuries, Messi has continued to shine on the field, scoring 5 goals and providing 2 assists in 5 games for Inter Miami this season. His resilience and determination have been evident, with his latest achievements including a World Cup win with Argentina and securing a record-extending 8th Ballon d’Or.

Messi’s statement reflects his commitment to excellence and personal fulfillment, emphasizing the importance of performance and enjoyment in his decision-making process
