Lionel Messi stars as Inter Miami Beat Olimpia 5-0 in Preseason
Lionel Messi was the standout player as Inter Miami won 5-0 against Honduran side Club Olimpia Deportivo in a preseason match in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Messi scored once and provided two assists during the game. His assists came in the final three minutes of the first half, and his second goal for Inter Miami in preseason came in the 27th minute.
The MLS MVP helped Inter Miami go into the break with a 3-0 lead, setting up Federico Redondo and Noah Allen for goals. Luis Suarez also made an impact, scoring his first preseason goal in the 54th minute with an assist from Benjamin Cremaschi of the U.S. men’s national team.
In the 79th minute, Messi set up Ryan Sailor for Inter Miami’s fourth goal.
Messi played until the 62nd minute before being substituted as Inter Miami prepare for their next matches. The team’s preseason wraps up next Friday in Tampa, Florida, with a game against MLS rivals Orlando City.
Inter Miami’s next big challenge will come on February 18, when they play Sporting Kansas City in the first round of the Concacaf Champions Cup.
