Liverpool forward Luis Diaz is in a state of upheaval after receiving news of the kidnap of his parents in his native Colombia.
The 26-year-old winger, who joined the Reds from FC Porto, has received news of his parents’ kidnap in the last 24 hours, as he prepares to face Nottingham Forest with his Liverpool side.
Diaz’s parents were driving home in their truck when they were stopped by a group of gunmen on motorbikes. They were kidnapped immediately, sending the nation into a state of alarm.
His mother has been rescued shortly after, but his father remains in captivity still. Colombia have deployed the army and police to find the star’s father.
