Lookman Fires Atlético Madrid to Narrow Win Over Girona
Ademola Lookman was the hero once again as Atlético Madrid defeated Girona FC 1-0 in theLookman thought he had added a second goal later in the first half, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Girona pushed hard for an equaliser after the break, but Atlético stayed organised at the back and held on for an important victory.
The goal was Lookman’s fourth in the league since joining Atlético Madrid during the winter transfer window from Atalanta BC. It also took his total tally to nine goals in all competitions this season.
The Nigerian forward played 63 minutes before being replaced as Atlético focused on protecting their lead. He completed most of his passes, created chances for teammates and remained dangerous throughout the match.
Lookman has now scored in back-to-back league games for the first time since joining Atlético Madrid and will hope to finish the season strongly when Atlético face Villarreal next weekend.
