Love revels in record-breaking first quarter

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love set a new NBA record for points in a first quarter in his side’s win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Cavaliers star registered 34 points – falling just three shy of the record for any quarter set by Klay Thompson last January – to propel his sid to a 137-125 victory.

Love made 11 of 14 field goal attempts, including a career-high eight three-pointers from 10 efforts all in the first, while he made his first six shots in total and was four from four from the free throw line.

Love outscored the entire Trail Blazers team (31) in the first quarter.

“He beat them by himself,” team-mate J.R. Smith told Fox Sports Ohio during half-time.”To hit shots like that in the first quarter – I’ve never seen it.”
