Lukas Nmecha third Nigerian-born player to be capped by Germany this year
Germany men’s national team have beaten Nigeria men’s national team to another prospect after handing a senior team cap to former Manchester City forward Lukas Nmecha on Thursday.
Lukas Nmecha was subbed on at the start of second half as Germany secured an easy 9-0 win against Liechtenstein in their World Cup qualifying game at Volkswagen Arena.
A goal each from Ilkay Gundogan, Marco Reus, Baku; braces from Leroy Sane, Thomas Muller and own goals from Kaufmann and Goppel helped Die Mannschaft to the easy win.
Lukas Nmecha would have had a dream debut when he came close to scoring in the 56th minute but the wood work denied him.
The Wolfsburg forward who is eligible to play for Nigeria becomes just the third Nigerian born players snapped up by Germany this year.
Bayern Munich 18-year-old forward Jamal Musiala, and Salzburg’s 19-year-old forward Karim Adeyemi have all been capped this year by Germany.
