Mali star Yves Bissouma stirs controversy on social Media after snub for Super Eagles game

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has sparked controversy on social media after taking drastic action in response to being omitted from Mali national team squad for the international break fixtures against Mauritania and Nigeria.

The 27-year-old Mali international made headlines as he unfollowed the Instagram channel of the Malian Football Federation and seemingly removed all photos featuring the Mali jersey from his profile.

This bold move comes in the wake of Bissouma’s surprising exclusion from the Mali squad, raising questions about the selection process and player-coach dynamics within the national team setup.

Mali coach Sekou Chelle’s decision to leave out Bissouma from the roster has stirred discontent among fans and pundits alike.

Chelle defended his choice by suggesting that Bissouma’s fit within his tactical system was slightly below that of other players.

Despite consistently performing for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this season under manager Ange Postecoglou, Bissouma’s absence from international duty has left many perplexed.

Bissouma’s omission from the Mali squad comes on the heels of his recent appearances for Spurs, notably following their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Fulham in the Premier League.

As Mali prepares to take on Mauritania and Nigeria in friendly fixtures, Bissouma’s absence adds fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding player selection and national team dynamics.

Mali is scheduled to face Mauritania in a friendly on Friday, March 22, followed by a clash against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday, March 26.
