Man United’s Winless Run Extends to Six Games After Leeds Draw

Manchester United’s winless run has extended to six games after they played out a draw with Leeds United in the Premier League at Elland Road.

The result was another setback for head coach Michael Carrick, whose side went into the match hoping to return to winning ways against their long-time rivals.

The match started with plenty of tension, as Bruno Fernandes and Leeds defender Gabriel Gudmundsson received yellow cards for late challenges.

Both teams created chances before the half-hour mark. Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens made a fine save to deny Nico Elvedi, while Bryan Mbeumo missed a free header at the other end.

Mbeumo later made amends by giving Manchester United the lead 10 minutes before half-time. He battled past James Justin to connect with an excellent pass from Youri Tielemans and put the visitors ahead.

However, Leeds responded shortly after the break as Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored to bring the home side back into the game. He reached a loose ball ahead of Mbeumo after Tarik Muharemovic had met a corner.

Manchester United captain Fernandes came close to restoring his team’s lead but sent his shot wide. Leeds also had an opportunity through Anton Stach, whose first-time effort went over the crossbar.

Despite late efforts from both sides, neither team could find a winning goal.

The result means Manchester United have now gone six games without a win in all competitions, their longest such run since the end of the 2018-19 season.

United remain 13th in the Premier League table, while Leeds sit seventh, three points ahead of Carrick’s side.

Leeds will also take confidence from their strong home form, having remained unbeaten at Elland Road in all competitions since March.
