Manchester City ease into Club World Cup final with 3-0 win over Urawa Red Diamonds
Manchester City secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds, advancing to the final of the Club World Cup.
Despite the absence of Erling Haaland, City dominated the match, with second-half goals from Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva securing the win.
The first half remained goalless, but City’s relentless attacking play kept Urawa under pressure.
The breakthrough came just before halftime, with Matheus Nunes’ low drive towards goal turned into an own goal by Urawa’s Marius Hoibraten.
In the second half, City continued to assert their dominance. Kovacic scored the second goal after being played into space by Kyle Walker, and Silva added the third with a rebounded shot after Shusaku Nishikawa saved Nunes’ effort.
City manager Pep Guardiola made substitutions in the later stages, giving opportunities to other players.
The victory sets up a final clash against Brazil’s Fluminense, offering City the chance to claim their fifth trophy of the calendar year.
The Club World Cup final between Manchester City and Fluminense is scheduled for Friday at 6 pm (GMT) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
After the Club World Cup, Manchester City will resume Premier League action with a match against Everton on December 27.
