Manchester City ‘open talks with Tottenham Hotspur over Kyle Walker’

Manchester City have reportedly opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a possible deal to bring Kyle Walkerto the Etihad Stadium this summer.

City have been linked with the England international throughout the summer after he fell out with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino towards the end of last season, with Kieran Trippier often being chosen ahead of him.

Trippier is understood to have agreed a new five-year deal at White Hart Lane which could see him become Walker’s successor, opening the door for a possible exit to Manchester City.

However, The Mirror reports that Spurs will not accept bids of any less than £50m for the 27-year-old, who still has two years remaining on his current contract.

Spurs could use some of that money to bring in another right-back in order to provide depth for their Champions League campaign next season, with Porto’s Ricardo Pereira and Ajax’s Joel Veltman on their radar.

Walker joined Spurs in 2009 and has gone on to make 228 appearances for the club, scoring four goals.
