Manchester City reach FA Cup quarter-finals
Premier League giants, Manchester City are into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after two goals from Nico O’Reilly and a late Kevin De Bruyne strike. The 19-year-old O’Reilly continued his form in this competition after a goal against Salford to spare the blushes of the Premier League champions.
Recall that Championship side Plymouth Argyle knocked out Brentford and Liverpool to earn their tie at the Etihad and went ahead towards the end of the first half from a simple corner routine that wasn’t defended by the hosts.
O’Reilly levelled the game just before the break but the Championship side held on for most of the second half before O’Reilly nodded in from a corner.
Erling Haaland was on the pitch by that time with Pep Guardiola keen to add a focal point to his attack, and De Bruyne scored in the closing stages to seal the result and move City to within one game of another Wembley trip.
