Manchester United 7-0 Barnsley: Red Devils flourish in the EFL Cup
Manchester United kicked off their EFL Cup campaign with a dominant 7-0 victory over Barnsley at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag’s side showed their class with a commanding performance, leaving the visitors with no chance of a comeback.
Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the 16th minute, followed by Antony converting from the penalty spot in the 35th minute. Alejandro Garnacho added a third just before halftime, and then quickly scored his second of the match early in the second half to make it 4-0.
Rashford grabbed his second goal in the 58th minute, extending United’s lead to 5-0, while Christian Eriksen added a brace late in the game to round off the 7-0 rout. Barnsley struggled to put up a fight, and United’s relentless pressure ensured the Colliers were comfortably knocked out of the EFL Cup.
