Manchester United confirm agreement to sign Victor Lindelof from Benfica

Manchester United have confirmed they have agreed a deal to sign Benfica defender Victor Lindelof subject to a medical.

The Sweden international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and came close to a transfer in the January transfer window.

Lindelof, 22, had been keen to finish the season with Benfica and Sweden before completing his move but he will now fly to Manchester this week to have a medical.

United have not confirmed details of their arrangement with Benfica but it’s believed the deal is in the region of £35m.

The Red Devils tweeted late on Saturday evening to confirm the news.

‘Manchester United is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with Benfica for the transfer of Victor Lindelof, subject to a medical examination, international clearance and personal terms,’ a statement read.

‘A further announcement will be made once the transfer is complete.’
