Manchester United draw AC Milan as Arsenal return to Olympiacos in Europa League

Tottenham draw Dinamo Zagreb

Following the conclusion of the Round of 32 of the Europa League, the draw for the Round of 16 was conducted and the major heavyweight clash sees Manchester United pitted against resurgent Italian giants, AC Milan. Both sides have won Europe’s premier club competition, the UEFA Champions League on numerous occasions and are bookies’ favourites to win this season’s Europa League.

Arsenal were drawn against Greek side, Olympiacos. Olympiacos will be looking for a repeat of last season’s feat against the Gunners as they knocked Arsenal out of the Europa League last season as well. Arsenal’s North London neighbours, Tottenham Hotspur were drawn against Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in their own Round of 16 tie. Britain’s other team in the competition, Rangers were drawn against Czech side Slavia Prague. Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have lost only once in a remarkable season and look to stand a good chance of going through.

In other fixtures, Italian side, AS Roma take on Ukrainian giants, Shakhtar Donetsk. Spanish side Granada will do battle with Norwegian side Molde and Ukraine’s Dynamo Kiev will take on Spanish side, Villarreal. In the last fixture of the round, Ajax take on Swiss top flight side, Young Boys.

The matches will be held over two legs on the 11th and 18th of March, after which the quarterfinal and semi-final draws will be held.
