Manchester United gunned down fellow English Premier League club Arsenal 2-0 in a pre-season friendly in the United States of America on Saturday July 22.
Goals from new skipper Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho saw Manchester United FC past Arsenal to continue their perfect run in pre-season having previously defeated Leeds United FC and Lyon.
A drab half-hour was crowned with a 25-yard strike by Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes. Jordan Sancho doubled the advantage in the 37th minute to give the Red Devils a cruising 2-0 lead at half-time.
An improved Arsenal performance took away thoughts of a rout as Mikel Arteta’s men enjoyed more possession but failed to find a way past Tom Heaton who kept his place in goal in the absence of new signing Andre Onana.
The second half did not produce any goal and so Manchester United FC emerged 2-0 winner in regulation time of the match which had two parts.
As part of the entertainment package for the 82,500 fans inside the MetLife Stadium in New York, both teams engaged in a penalty shoot-out.
Manchester United again emerged victorious in the shoot-out 5-3.
