‘ Manchester United have quality squad to win Champions League this season ‘ – Varane

French defender, Raphael Varane believes Manchester United FC have enough quality in the squad to win the UEFA Champions League title this season.

The defender is in United’s matchday squad for the UEFA Champions League matchday two clash vs Turkish club, Galatasaray on Tuesday, October 3, and thinks there is enough quality to win the competition for the fourth time.

” Yes I think so,” manutd.com quoted Varane as saying when asked whether the Red Devils can win the UCL title this season.

” I think we have the quality in the squad to win the competition. The competition is difficult, you have to take care about every detail.

“But yeah we have a team with quality, with good mentality. We have to make some improvements, it’s not the start of the season we expected, but I still believe we have enough quality to compete with the best teams in the world.

“Tomorrow is a great opportunity to get the first three points in the competition and to move forward and to improve. At the moment, in the last few (weeks), I think what we can improve is to be efficient in front of the goals.

” With a very low number of occasions, we concede goals and we create a lot to score. That’s the reality of the top level. You have to be efficient to win trophies.”

Raphael Varane was not in action for the 4-3 UEFA Champions League matchday one loss in Germany vs Bayern Munich.

The defender has tasted success in the competition on several occasions at Real Madrid and so will be an experienced option for Erik Ten Hag as they target a positive outcome vs Galatasaray.

Manchester United are last place in Group A of the 2023/24 Champions League with zero points after matchday one and have not had a great run in the domestic league as well.

Manchester United are currently 10th on the Premier League table with nine points after seven games.
