‘ Matches only end with the Referees whistle ‘ – Wydad Coach refuses to rule-out Enyimba fightback

Wydad Casablanca Coach Adil Ramzi has refused to rule-out a fightback from Enyimba FC in their Africa Football League quater-final fixture.

Ramzi tutored Wydad Casablanca on Sunday October 22, defeated Enyimba FC 0-1 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Yahya Jabrane stepped up to score the games only goal to hand the Moroccan club a 0-1 aggregate lead ahead of the return leg.

Enyimba FC did put in a fight in search of an equalizer, Chijioke Mbaoma, Ekene Awazie and Daniel Daga all coming close to getting a goal but the battle will continue in Casablanca

It’s a match with two periods,” Wydad Coach Ramzi said, as per Le Martin.

“I’m happy with the result, especially since we scored and didn’t concede.

“Enyimba is a good team and we will have to concentrate in Casablanca during the return match. Matches only end with the referee’s whistle.”

The second leg is billed for the Stade Mohamed V, Casablanca this weekend.

The winner of the tie will face either Esperance of Tunisia or TP Mazembe in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, Enyimba FC Head Coach, Finidi George is optimistic his boys can overturn the deficit.

” Football is about goal scoring; if we had scored, the overall result would have been different,” Finidi said.

“In a couple of days, we will have the return leg. I’m happy that in as much as we want to win the game, I’m happy that we lost by just 1-0, which gives us another opportunity to go over there and see if we can.

“If we have the same opportunities that we got here, if we can take one or two it’s going to be a different ball game.

“I’m quite optimistic about the second leg, but it’s unfortunate that we lost the first leg.” the former Super Eagles forward said.

In a related development, Enyimba FC’s scheduled trip to Morocco has been delayed due to a rejected landing permit.
