Melo ready to leave Knicks?

New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony continues to have his loyalty tested.

There have been more than whispers in recent months suggesting the Knicks may be ready to move on from their star forward, but Anthony still wants to stay in New York.

That, however, could change if the Knicks start pushing him out the door.

“I think it will be more on the front office,” Anthony said, via Newsday.com. “I have the power, but still I would talk to them. We would be in communication if they feel like they want to go in a different direction, they want to start rebuilding for the future. If they tell me they want to scrap this whole thing, yeah, I have to consider it.”

Anthony, now in his 13th NBA season, is averaging 22.3 points and six rebounds per game. He is coming off 30-point efforts in two of his last three games, and has never averaged less than 20 points per game in a season.

The 32-year-old, who signed a five-year contract in 2014, may look for a better chance to win a championship late in his career, but he is not quite ready to turn his back on the city or team.

“It’s hard for me to think about that right now,” Anthony said.

“When you’re in the middle of battling, whether we’re winning or losing, me personally, it’s hard to even sit down and say, ‘[Expletive] I want to get out of here.'”
