MFM 2-0 Niger Tornadoes: Comfortable home win for Fidelis Ilechukwu boys

The week 17 NPFL match between MFM FC and Niger Tornadoes that was postponed to today due to yesterday’s heavy downpour lived up to its biling, an own goal and Stephen Odey’s 45 minutes strike gave Fidelis Ilechukwu boys the maximum points.

Despite playing the tie on a Monday morning, Lagosians came out in their numbers to support their darling club MFM FC. It was a cautious opening minutes of play from both teams but in the 26 minutes Tornadoes’ Abiodun Adebayo turned the ball into his net with a flick to give the home side the lead.

Tornadoes’ danger man and top scorer Ismaila Gata went in search of an equalizer but the home team denied him time and space. While Tornadoes went in search of an equalizer MFM got their second goal through their danger man Stephen Odey in added time of the first half.

Ismaila Gata and co put in a great show to get back into the game but MFM FC defended well and kept them at bay. At the end it was a home win for MFM FC and maximum points, with the victory MFM FC remains in the top half of the NPFL log after 17 games while Tornadoes are 16th on the log and 3 points away from relegation zone.
