MFM FC 2 Abia Warriors 1: No Fidelis Ilechukwu no problem for Olukoya Boys

Two first half goals from MFM FC danger men Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun ensured the Olukoya Boys beat Abia Warriors at the Agege Township Stadium on Wednesday evening.

MFM FC went into the matchday 16 tie against a strong Abia Warriors on the bounce of a 1-0 defeat on Sunday and without their coach Fidelis Ilechukwu on seat but that didn’t affect them.

In the 4th minute of the encounter the Nigeria Professional Football League top scorer, Stephen Odey put MFM FC in front with a fine finish. The goal was his 13th of the season.

Sikiru Olatunbosun increased the home team tally with a well taken free kick in the 31st minute. The goal brought the fans to their feet and sent the crowd agog.

With MFM FC coasting to victory Abia Warriors pulled one back through through Sunday Adetunji in the 84th minutes.

The 2-1 victory recorded by MFM FC over Abia Warriors is their first ever victory over the Warriors after three games, having previously lost and drew in their two meetings in the NPFL.

MFM FC are now back to the top of the NPFL league with 30 points while Plateau who played a goalless draw with Rivers United today have dropped to the 2nd spot.
