Middlesbrough 1 Leeds 1: Mikel Obi unlucky to share points at home after Phillips’ 101 minutes equalizer

Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi was unlucky to drop points at Riverside Stadium after Middlesbrough played a 1-1 draw against Leeds United on Saturday in their Championship clash.

Following their shock exit from the FA Cup after 2-0 away loss in the reply to Newport Co, it is expedient for Middlesbrough to bounce back to winning ways.

A clash against high flying Leeds United came too soon for Tony Pulis side but they lived up to expectation as they were seconds close to securing the maximum points.

Lewis Wing put the home side in-front in the 47th minutes but Kalvin Phillips 101 minutes strike canceled out the strike to keep Marcelo Bielsa side on top of the log.

John Mikel Obi who played 61 minutes in Middlesbrough 1-1 draw against Newport Co and 74 minutes in Middlesbrough 3-2 away win against WestBrom was on for the entire minutes in the 1-1 draw against Leeds.

John Mikel Obi was helpful in Tony Pulis’ side on Saturday. He broke the Leeds attack, helped the defenders and the attackers with his understanding of the ball.

The draw meant Leeds United remained top of the log with 58 points while Middlesbrough now 4th on the log with 51 points.
