Mikel Arteta denies Barcelona rumors and affirms commitment to Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has dismissed rumors linking him to a managerial role at Barcelona following the announcement of Xavi Hernandez’s departure from the club.

Arteta strongly denied the speculations, calling them “totally fake news” and expressing his frustration at the unfounded reports.

Arteta stated, “No, that’s totally fake news what you read yesterday. I don’t know where it’s coming from and it’s totally untrue. I’m really upset about it.” He emphasized that he is in the right place at Arsenal and has a strong relationship with the club’s board and ownership.

The Spanish manager, who joined Arsenal in December 2019, reiterated his commitment to the ongoing project at the club. “I’m with the right people, I feel really good about it,” he said. Arteta acknowledged that discussions about contract renewals will happen naturally when the time is right.

Regarding the links to Barcelona, Arteta acknowledged that such rumors are part of football, but he emphasized the importance of distinguishing between routine speculation and unfounded statements about his current role.

Arteta has been at the helm of Arsenal since taking over as head coach in December 2019. Under his management, Arsenal has undergone a rebuilding process, with an emphasis on youth development and a tactical shift.
