Mikel Obi drags Tianjin TEDA pasts Odion Ighalo’s Changchun Yatai

Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi helped his Chinese-based club Tianjin Teda secure an important 1-0 away win against Odion Ighalo’s Changchun Yatai at the Changchun’s People Stadium in their Chinese Super League matchday 10 clash played on Saturday.

John Mikel Obi who has been in a scintillating form continued to be an important member of his club side while, Odion Ighalo who failed to score in his last match after scoring 6 goals in 2 games again failed to find the back of the net.

The Super Eagles striker came close to scoring in the 9th minutes of the clash after finding his way into the box beating his markers but failed to beat the goalie as he dragged his shot wide.

Again in the 21st minutes of the game, Odion Ighalo who captained the hosts was brought down in the box but the referee waved away his penalty claims. Odion Ighalo did everything to get the crowd on their feet but found no breakthrough.

At halftime, it was all square and nothing separated both teams. Nothing to separate the team till Ghanaian striker
Acheampong got a good ball from Mirahmetjan Muzepper to put the visitors in front.

Odion Igahlo lead Changchun Yatai tried to get back into the game and came close to achieving that in the 84th minutes but Mikel Obi made a last minute clearance with his head to deny the hosts of a goal they deserved.

John Mikel Obi’s Tianjin TEDA now sit on 8th position with 15 points from 10 games splayed while Odion Ighalo’s Changchun Yatai now occupying the 13th position with 11 points from 10 games.
