Mikel Obi helps Stoke City to first Carabao Cup quarter-finals since 2015

Retired Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has helped his club Stoke City to their first ever Carabao Cup quarter-finals place since 2015.

The Porters secured an incredible 1-0 win against Aston Villa on Thursday to book a place in the last eight of the English League cup.

A goal from Sam Vokes was all that Stoke City needed to qualify for the quarterfinals with a 1-0 win at the Villa Park.

John Mikel Obi was on the pitch from the beginning to the end of the game as Stoke City kept another clean sheet.

This is the first time first time since 2015 – and the first time when the club has been outside the Premier League since 2000 that they will make the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

Michael O’Neill side have also kept 5 clean sheets in 6 games in competitions this season.
