Mikel Obi leads Middlesbrough past Blackburn at Ewood Park to keep pace

Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel played a vital role in Middlesbrough’s 1-0 away win at Ewood Park
in a championship game to keep pace with clubs in the promotion battle.

Britt Assombalonga solitary goal was enough to return Tony Pulis side to winning ways having gone two games in all competition without a win.

As usual, John Mikel Obi was at the heart of everything Boro did at Ewood Park on Sunday as his interceptions and use of the ball helped Middlesbrough eased to an away win.

The only goal of the game was scored in the 19th minute of the game. Blackburn Rovers’ got a player sent off in the 45th-minute when Derrick Williams was giving his marching orders.

Boro could have increased their tally when Mikel Obi set up Stewart Downing but the former England winger thundered his shot inches over.

Mikel who put in man of match display was on the entire duration of the game.

The win returned Middlesbrough to contention for a playoff spot with 54 points.
