John Obi Mikel’s scintillating form with his new club Middlesbrough in the Championship has been recognised with the EFL player of the week spot.
The Super Eagles midfielder who has been part of every league game played by Tony Pulis side since his January move was named in the player of the week in a statement released by the EFL.
The two-time Chelsea young player of the year has been having a swell time at Middlesbrough and his effort has now been recognised not only by the fans who sing his praise all along but also by the English Football league.
Mikel Obi was named amongst the best 11 of the past weekend having played a great role in his Middlesbrough’s 1-0 away win against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Sunday.
“Mikel has quickly become a fan favourite at Boro, and it’s easy to see why on the latest evidence. The travelling fans sang his name throughout Sunday’s win at Blackburn Rovers, as the midfielder showed his class,” said the statement.
