Mikel Obi plays a big role in Tianjin TEDA’s first goal of the season
Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel played a huge role as his Chinese club side Tianjin TEDA secured a point at home on Saturday against Hebei Fortune.
Hebei Fortuned coached by former Manchester City coach had the likes of Ezequiel Lavezzi and former Liverpool and Barcelona player Javier Mascherano in their rank.
The first league game of the new Chinese Super League season turned out to be a battle between Mikel Obi and Javier Mascherano as both midfielders battle to stamp their authority.
It was John Mikel Obi who got involved in his side’s goal as he intercepted a pass in the midfield before passing the ball to Johnathan who passed to Hui Jiakang who finished off with a textbook finish.
Mikel Obi had a busy day as continued to chase Javier Mascherano, Ezequiel Lavezzi, and co, he intercepted and coordinated his side against the high profile Hebei Fortune.
Although Hebei Fortune got an equaliser in the 85th minute of the game, Mikel Obi would be proud of his display and Tianjin TEDA who would be happy to get a point in their first game of the season.
