Mikel Obi, a football legend for Nigeria, has shared his thoughts on Mykhailo Mudryk’s failed drug test that happened last month.
Mudryk, who plays for Chelsea, reportedly failed a drug test, causing a lot of discussion on social media. The winger has had trouble getting a regular spot in the team, making his situation even worse.
Although the drug test results were said to be positive, Mudryk has defended himself by releasing a statement about the situation.
Mikel Obi, reflecting on his own experience at Chelsea, spoke about how careful players must be with what they put into their bodies. On the Obi One podcast, Mikel said, “I hope Mudryk and his family are innocent. When I played, if someone offered me something, I would ask what it is. I am responsible for what I eat and take. But for now, Mudryk is innocent until proven guilty.”
Mikel also shared that during his time at Chelsea, teammates offered him performance-enhancing drugs, but he always refused.
If Mudryk is found guilty, he could become the first Chelsea player to test positive for doping in a long time and may face a ban of up to four years.
