Mikel out, Ajayi in the EFL team of the week

Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has missed out of the English Championship player of the week but his compatriot, Semi Ajayi made the list.

The just concluded week was a good week for Nigerian players plying their trades in the Skybet Championship. Oghenekaro Etebo and Mikel Obi played key roles for their clubs.

For Oghenekaro Etebo he was on target for Stoke City in their 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

Mikel Obi also played a key role for Middlesbrough in their 0-0 draw at Wigan Athletic.

Both players didn’t make the cut only Semi Ajayi who scored two goals to help Rotherham beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 to end their winless run made the list.

The former Arsenal trainee who is naturally a defender has been in top form since he has been deployed to the midfield role by his club coach.

Interestingly, Semi Ajayi who is set to win further international caps for the Super Eagles has been listed alongside the midfielders for Nigeria’s clashes against Seychelles and Egypt this March.

Last week, John Mikel Obi was included in the team of the week but failed to make a cut this week.
