Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has hinged Nigeria’s comfortable 4-2 win over Argentina on Tuesday at the Krasnodar stadium on coach Gernot Rohr’s talk at half time.
The former Chelsea midfielder who led Super Eagles to just their 2nd win over La Albiceleste in eight meetings revealed that the Eagles struggled to find their feet in the first half due to formation change.
But the half time talks by the Franco-German coach Gernot Rohr helped them found their feet, correct their mistakes and marched on to an easy win against a top side.
“We played a new system today we never played before so we struggled to find our feet in the first half but at the break, the coach spoke to us and we corrected our mistakes which helped us to fight back. Our team is still work in progress.”
Mikel Obi was on the pitch for the entire duration on Tuesday, he has played against Argentina with the Super Eagles on 4 different occasions with a record of 2 wins and 2 defeats.
