Mikel the captain again as Boro win back-to-back games to keep hopes alive

John Mikel Obi was the captain again as Middlesbrough pip Hull City in their Championship game at Riverside on Saturday.

Mikel Obi who recently joined Middlesbrough on a short term deals this January was made captain last week and the gamble paid off.

After losing six straight games, John Mikel Obi was made the captain in Middlesbrough 2-0 away win against Bolton last week, again he was the leader as Boro pip Hull.

Tony Pulis side has now regained their dream of a playoff spot after back-to-back wins. Although the only goal of the match was scored by Britt Assombalonga in first half, Mikel Obi was again the key man.

The former Chelsea midfielder controlled his teammates, dictated the tempo of the game as they rolled into another win to keep their hopes alive.

His knowledge, understand of the game and his calmness helped on the day Boro needed another win.

With four games to go, Middlesbrough now one point adrift playoffs spot.
