Mikel’s goal inspires Tianjin Teda to first win in Chinese Super League

Super Eagles and Tianjin TEDA’s Captain John Obi Mikel was on target as his Chinese club secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Chongqing Lifan in the Chinese Super League on Sunday at the TEDA Football Stadium.

Tianjin TEDA who are winless in their last 9 games in all competition came into the game looking to secure their first win and first goal in the new Chinese Super League season.

It was the former Chelsea midfielder who opened the scoring for the home team in the 48th minute, the strike was Mikel and Tianjin TEDA’s first ever goal in the league.

An own goal from Croatian Goran Milovic in the 82nd minutes sealed the win for Tianjin TEDA.

Brown Ideye also played a part in the game before he was substituted in the 65th minute of the encounter.

Tianjin TEDA who were winless in their last 9 games secured their first after the 10th game in all competition.

The result puts Tianjin Teda in 9th place in the league with 4 points, leaving Lifan languishing in 13th with only 2 points to their name after three games.
