The Ministry of Sports has reportedly told the Nigeria Football Federation to give all shortlisted candidate for the vacant post of Super Eagles coach a level playing ground.
Just as SportsRation reported last week, Ernesto Valverde, Philip Cocu, Laurent Blanc and Jose Peseiro are the four shortlisted candidates for the coveted Super Eagles headcoach job.
While reports doing round suggest that the Nigeria Football Federation has picked Jose Peseiro, the Ministry wants the federation to pick base on merit.
“In the letter to us (NFF), the Ministry said the Presidency will be involved in paying the wages of the new Technical Adviser and so the NFF should be more thorough and professional with the process and not just settle for anyone without giving all the candidates a level playing field.
“The Ministry wants to be convinced that the NFF is making the right choice in picking Peseiro ahead of the other coaches who appear to have better pedigree and track records,” a source revealed to Complete Sports.
Also, according to popular journalist Godwin Enakhena, the Nigeria Football Federation has already picked Jose Peseiro.
The popular broadcaster revealed that Jose Peseiro will stay in Nigeria during the duration of his contract with the NFF as Super Eagles coach.
Jose Peseiro will pay his two full time assistants, fitness trainer and match reader. The Portuguese will be assisted by Yusuf Salisu, Finidi George and, Musa Abdallah.
Eboboritse Uwejamomere will be the match analyst and Ike Shorounmu the Goalkeepers’ Trainer
