Mitchell drops 57 in Jazz 125-135 OT loss to Nuggets to join Jordan in an exclusive record

Donovan Mitchell has joined Michael Jordan, Elgin Baylor in an exclusive list after dropping 57 points in Jazz 125-135 loss in their 1st round playoff game on Monday.

The guard gave his all in the Utah Jazz Western Conference first round game one clash against Denver Nuggets.

Mitchell was 19 of 33 from the floor and 13 of 13 from the free-throw line.

He hit six 3-pointers in 43 minutes, 14 seconds of work. He also had seven assists and nine rebounds.

The 23-year-old’s effort dragged the game to the over time but wasn’t enough to win it for the 6th seed Utah.

But he put himself in the record books both in the NBA and his franchise.

He became just the third player with the most points in single playoffs game with 57 points just behind Michael Jordan (63) and Elgin Baylor (61).

Mitchell also became Jazz player with the most points in a single post season game for the franchise surpassing the 50 mark set by Karl Malone on April 22, 2000, against Seattle.

Jamal Murray’s NBA Playoffs career-high 36 points and Nikola Jokic double-double 29 points and 10 rebounds gave 3rd seeds Denver the 1-0 series lead.

Mitchell and his Utah Jazz teammates will battle Denver Nuggets in the game two on Wednesday.
