Mixed fortunes for Team Nigeria relay teams #GC2018Athletics

Nigeria’s Women’s 4 x 400m & 4 x 100m relay teams ensured the added to Nigeria’s tally at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

The teams won silver and bronze to increase Nigeria’s tally to 21 on Saturday at the Carra Stadium.

The quartet of Joy Udo-Gabriel, Blessing Okagbare, Tobi Amusan and Rosemary Chukwuma finished third in the Women’s 4x100m finals.

Nigeria finished third behind England and Jamaica who finished 1st and second.

In the Women’s 4 x 400m final Nigeria finished 2nd behind Jamaica who took the gold medal while Botswana finished third for the bronze medal.

It was an easy ride for Nigeria quartet anchored by Yinka Ajayi.

It was an embarrassing day for Nigeria’s men in the Men’s 100m finals as the team failed to make it the finish line and were also disqualified for lane violation.

The team failed to pass the baton round and so did not finish the race. England again won the gold in men’s 100m, South Africa took the silver while Jamaica finished third.
