Mohamed Salah keeps up incredible impact on and off the pitch

Egyptian superstar has become one of the most iconic players to play for the Reds

The Mohamed Salah brand has grown in leaps and bounds beyond the confines of the football pitch in his native Egypt and Liverpool. The forward has had a tremendous influence on life in those areas since his rise to superstardom.

Salah just extended his Liverpool contract for three years until 2026, making him the best-paid player in the history of the club. The 30-year-old has more than earned the right to be paid that much money with his performances for the club.

Salah has helped Liverpool win trophies on the pitch as the club has won every competition they have participated in since his signing. In his time, they also reached the UEFA Champions League final thrice, winning in 2019 and losing in 2018 and 2022. He is also one of the best scorers in the history of the club. Off the pitch, the Egyptian forward’s presence in Merseyside has greatly helped to curb hate crimes in the area.

According to a Stanford University study, since Mohamed Salah joined Liverpool in 2017, hate crimes in the area have decreased by 19% and anti-Muslim comments online have dropped by 50%.

After an explosive start to life as a Liverpool player, the fans created a song for their new hero in his first season.

“If he’s good enough for you, he’s good enough for me. He scores another few, then I’ll be Muslim too. If he’s good enough for you he’s good enough for me. He’s sitting in the mosque, that’s where I wanna be”.

The reigning FWA Footballer of the Year and PFA Players Player of the Year has scored 156 goals in only 254 appearances for the club and has won the Premier League Golden boot three times. He was rumoured to be on his way out of the club after an impasse in contract negotiations, before his renewal was announced in the past week.
