Morocco King Pardons Senegalese Football Fans After AFCON Arrests

Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has granted a royal pardon to a number of Senegalese football fans who were convicted during the Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Morocco.

The pardon was announced as a sign of goodwill, friendship, and unity between Morocco and Senegal, further strengthening the close relationship between the two African countries.

The supporters were arrested following incidents connected to the tournament. However, officials did not reveal the exact number of fans pardoned or the offences they were convicted for.

The decision has been warmly received in Senegal, where many people described it as a humanitarian and diplomatic move that shows the strong bond between both nations.

King Mohammed VI has remained active in promoting peace, unity, and cooperation across Africa through different political, economic, and cultural programmes.
