Moses Usor Sets Sights On Long Super Eagles Career After Dream Debut
Super Eagles newboy Moses Usor has revealed his ambitions with the Nigerian national team after making a memorable debut against Madagascar.
The 24-year-old LASK forward came off the bench to score the winning goal as Nigeria defeated Madagascar 2-1 in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in Uyo on Friday.
Madagascar took the lead through Ehsan Kari before another Nigerian debutant, George Ilenikhena, equalised in the first half.
Usor then completed Nigeria’s comeback in the second half with a brilliant individual effort, scoring just 14 minutes after coming on.
The goal also saw him break Akor Adams’ record to become the fastest Nigerian player to score as a substitute on a competitive debut.
Usor had previously been invited to the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 Unity Cup but missed the tournament due to injury. He received another opportunity ahead of Nigeria’s opening 2027 AFCON qualifiers and made the most of it.
USOR WANTS TO FOLLOW MOSES SIMON’S FOOTSTEPS
Usor says he wants to build a long and successful career with the Super Eagles and has identified veteran winger Moses Simon as a player he hopes to emulate.
Simon also featured against Madagascar and reached 100 appearances for Nigeria, becoming only the fifth Nigerian player to achieve the milestone.
“It’s special to share the name Moses and go through this night with him. Getting to 100 caps for Nigeria is a massive achievement,” Usor told Footy-Africa.
“I want to be like Moses Simon, his consistency, his humility, his commitment to the team over so many seasons.
“Now it’s about work. One goal doesn’t make a career. I want to stay humble, keep learning from the senior players, and keep fighting for my shirt.
“I want Nigerians to know I’m here to give everything.”

Usor also described his first Super Eagles appearance as a dream come true.
The forward said he was determined to make an impact after being introduced by the coach.
“He just told me to go out there and show what I can do. Once I got the ball, I backed myself,” Usor said.
“Seeing it go in on my Nigeria debut, with our fans there in Uyo… I’ll never forget that night.
“I wasn’t nervous, I was hungry. The team needed a moment, and I wanted to be the one to give it to them.
“I’ve waited for this chance my whole career, so I just told myself: this is your moment, take it.”
Usor will now hope his impressive debut earns him a starting place when Nigeria play their next 2027 AFCON qualifying match against Guinea-Bissau.
The Super Eagles will be looking to build on their opening victory and continue their campaign on a strong note.
