Naija Stars Abroad: Simon Shines, Osimhen & Lookman Impress, Onumonu Makes History

It was another exciting weekend for Nigerian players in Europe, including stars like Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, and Ifeoma Onumonu.

Moses Simon was the standout performer, scoring a fantastic solo goal for Nantes in France. Simon dribbled past three players from Rennes before scoring with an unstoppable shot. He also made the most dribbles, chances, and key passes in the match. This was his fourth goal of the season in Ligue 1, along with four assists in 13 matches.

Ademola Lookman kept his great form going with Atalanta in Italy, scoring a late goal to help his team win. He was named Man of the Match and now has 8 goals and 4 assists in 12 Serie A games.

Victor Osimhen scored for Galatasaray in their 3-2 win over Sivasspor, converting a penalty. On loan from Napoli, Osimhen has scored and assisted 10 goals in just 9 matches for Gala in the Turkish Super Lig.

In the Premier League, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey played well for Fulham in their 1-1 draw with Arsenal. However, Wilfred Ndidi got injured in Leicester City’s thrilling 4-3 loss to Brighton.

Ola Aina helped Nottingham Forest make history with their first win at Manchester United in 30 years. Aina had a great game, completing the most dribbles and playing strong defense.

In Scotland, Cyriel Dessers assisted Rangers in their 3-0 win, while Leon Balogun put in a solid defensive performance. Nathan Tella played well for Bayer Leverkusen, but a goal he scored was ruled out by VAR.

Ifeoma Onumonu made history by becoming the first Nigerian to score against France in the Super Falcons’ 2-1 loss. She continued her good form by scoring in her club’s 4-2 defeat to Dijon, marking her sixth consecutive goal for both club and country.

Rinsola Babajide also scored for Tenerife in their 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid, making it two goals in a row for her.

Overall, Nigerian players abroad had a great weekend with many strong individual performances across Europe.
