Napoli eyes Victor Boniface as potential Victor Osimhen replacement

According to recent reports, Napoli is eyeing Super Eagles and Bayer 04 Leverkusen striker, Victor Okoh Boniface, as a potential replacement for Victor Osimhen.

The 23-year-old striker has caught the attention of Napoli scouts due to his impressive performances for Leverkusen, particularly during the early months of the season.

Boniface’s remarkable form saw him score ten goals and provide eight assists in just fifteen starts for Xabi Alonso’s side, earning him the Rookie of the Month award four times consecutively. However, an adductor injury has sidelined him for most of the Rückrunde, although Leverkusen remains unbeaten in 39 games across all competitions.

Despite interest from other clubs like Arsenal, Leverkusen is reportedly reluctant to part ways with Boniface, especially considering he is only in his first season with the club. However, they may consider discussions if a bid in the region of €55 million is submitted for the former Union Saint-Gilloise striker.

The potential departure of Victor Osimhen from Napoli has spurred the Italian club to identify replacements, with Boniface being among the options listed by transfer expert Niccolò Ceccarini.

Other strikers on Napoli’s radar include David from Lille, Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord, and Benjamin Sesko. However, the chances of Boniface leaving Leverkusen for Napoli seem slim, especially with Xabi Alonso confirming his stay at the German club for another season.

Furthermore, Leverkusen has already secured a spot in the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League, while Napoli’s chances of qualifying for the tournament are dwindling.

With Leverkusen also in contention for their first-ever Bundesliga title, sitting comfortably ahead of Bayern Munich, Boniface’s focus may likely remain on his current club for the foreseeable future.
