NBA Conference Finals Set to Begin: Thunder vs Timberwolves in the West, Knicks vs Pacers in the East
The NBA Playoffs are down to the final four teams, and the Conference Finals are about to begin.
In the Western Conference, top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Over in the East, the New York Knicks face the Indiana Pacers. Both matchups will be played as a best-of-seven series, meaning the first team to win four games goes through to the NBA Finals.
Thunder vs Timberwolves (West)
Oklahoma City reached this stage after a tough seven-game series against the Denver Nuggets. They may be feeling tired after such a close battle. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves beat the Golden State Warriors in just five games. The Warriors were without their star player, Stephen Curry, due to injury.
Knicks vs Pacers (East)
The Knicks knocked out last year’s champions, the Boston Celtics, and the Pacers caused an upset by beating the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers. This match-up is expected to be very close.
A Rare Chance at Glory
These four teams are not regular finalists. Only the Knicks have ever won an NBA title – and that was back in 1973. The Thunder, Timberwolves, and Pacers have never won the championship.
Here’s a look at their title history:
- New York Knicks – last won in 1973
- Indiana Pacers – never won
- Minnesota Timberwolves – never won
- Oklahoma City Thunder – never won.
