NBA playoff day two summary: Victories for Clippers, Bucks, Thunder and Celtics

Here’s a summary of day 2 of the NBA playoffs, featuring victories from the Los Angeles Clippers, Bucks, Oklahoma Thunder, and Boston Celtics.

The Los Angeles Clippers secured a win against the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of their Western Conference quarterfinals series. Despite missing Kawhi Leonard due to a knee issue, James Harden stepped up with 28 points, supported by Ivica Zubac’s impressive performance with 20 points and 15 rebounds. The Clippers’ strong defensive efforts propelled them to a 109-97 victory.

In another game, the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Indiana Pacers 109-94 in their series opener. Despite Giannis Antetokounmpo’s absence due to injury, Damian Lillard’s outstanding play, setting a franchise playoff record with 35 first-half points, led the Bucks to victory. Khris Middleton and Bobby Portis also made significant contributions, securing a double-digit lead for the Bucks in the second half.

The top-seeded Boston Celtics dominated the Miami Heat in Game 1 of their quarterfinal series, securing a 114-94 victory. Celtics’ star player delivered a playoff triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Derrick White and Kristaps Porzingis added 20 and 18 points, respectively. Despite missing key players Terry Rozier and Jimmy Butler, the Heat couldn’t keep up with the Celtics’ strong performance.

Lastly, the Oklahoma City Thunder clinched a narrow 94-92 win against the New Orleans Pelicans in their Western Conference series opener. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s game-winning three-point play secured the victory for the Thunder, despite the Pelicans’ efforts to rally back. Holmgren and Jalen Williams contributed to the Thunder’s win with notable performances, while Trey Murphy led the Pelicans with 21 points.
