NBA Recap: LeBron James makes history as Lakers pick up first win of the season

Warriors lose second straight game as Celtics, Cavs pick up wins

Los Angeles Lakers great LeBron James further engraved his name in NBA history after he became the player with the most 20-point games in the history of the NBA. The 37-year-old achieved this feat as the Lakers defeated the Denver Nuggets 121-110 in their encounter. It was the 2020 champions’ first win of the season after five straight defeats.

LeBron James led the scoring for his side with 26 points and Anthony Davis contributed 23 points and 15 rebounds. Russell Westbrook also recorded 18 points off the bench for the Lakers. MVP Nikola Jokic led the scoring for the Nuggets with 23 points and 14 rebounds in the game.

Detroit Pistons defeated the Golden State Warriors 128-114 in their NBA clash to condemn the champions to a second successive defeat. Saddiq Bey led the scoring for his side with 28 points and Isaiah Stewart contributed 24 points and 13 rebounds. Steph Curry and Jordan Poole scored 32 and 30 points, respectively, for the Warriors.

New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 112-91 for their fourth win of the season. The return from injury of Zion Williamson was important as he scored 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Pelicans. CJ McCollum scored 22 points for them, just as Norman Powell scored 18 points for the Clippers.

Cleveland Cavaliers picked up a 121-108 win over the New York Knicks in their NBA clash. Donovan Mitchell led the scoring for the Cavs with 38 points and 12 assists, and Kevin Love scored 29 points. Jalen Brunson and Evan Fournier scored 16 points apiece for the Knicks.

Boston Celtics returned to winning ways with a 112-94 win over the Washington Wizards. Jaylen Brown scored 24 points and ten rebounds, while Jayson Tatum and Malcolm Brogdon scored 23 points apiece for the Celtics. Kristaps Porzingis scored 17 points for the Wizards.

San Antonio Spurs continued their impressive start to the season with a 107-98 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves for their fifth win of the season. Keldon Johnson led the scoring for the Spurs with 25 points and Doug McDermott scored 23 points. Karl-Anthony Towns scored 26 points and 11 rebounds for the Timberwolves in the game.

Dallas Mavericks picked up a 114-105 win over the Orlando Magic to condemn them to their sixth defeat of the season. Luka Doncic led the scoring with 44 points and Tim Hardaway Jr scored 21 points. Paolo Banchero led the scoring for the Magic with 18 points.

Phoenix Suns defeated the Houston Rockets 124-109 for their fifth win of the season in the NBA. Devin Booker led the scoring with 30 points as Chris Paul recorded ten points and 15 assists. Kevin Porter Jr scored 26 points for the Rockets.
