NBA Recap: Nets, Celtics, Nuggets all win

Champions Golden State taste defeat as Magic, Pistons also lose

The Brooklyn Nets picked up their first win of the season with a 109-105 win over the Toronto Raptors. After losing their season opener, the Nets had to deliver an improved performance and result against the Raptors.

Kylie Irving led the scoring for the Nets with 30 points as Kevin Durant contributed 27 points for his side. Raptors star Pascal Siakam scored the first triple-double of the season with 37 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists.

Boston Celtics made it two in two by defeating the Miami Heat 111-104 in their NBA clash in Miami. The Eastern Conference champions had Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to thank for the win as they recorded 29 and 28 points, respectively. D’Tigers star Gabe Vincent contributed 17 points for the Heat in the defeat.

The Washington Wizards defeated the Chicago Bulls 102-100 to pick up their second win of the season in the NBA. Kyle Kuzma led the scoring for the Wizards with 26 points as Bradley Beal added 19 points for them. DeMar DeRozan scored 32 points for the Bulls in the defeat.

The New Orleans Pelicans picked up their second win of the NBA season with a 124-112 win over the Charlotte Hornets. Brandon Ingram scored 28 points for the Pelicans as Jonas Valanciunas contributed 30 points and 17 rebounds. Gordon Hayward scored 26 points for the Hornets.

The San Antonio Spurs condemned the Indiana Pacers to a second straight NBA loss this season as they claimed a 137-134 win in Indiana. Josh Richardson led the scoring for the Spurs with 27 points as Keldon Johnson scored 23 points for the team. Rookie Benedict Mathurin contributed 26 points for the Pacers in their defeat.

The New York Knicks claimed an important first win of the season against the Detroit Pistons, defeating them 130-106 in their NBA clash at the Madison Square Garden. Immanuel Quickley led the scoring for the Knicks with 20 points and RJ Barrett scored 18 points. Saddiq Bey scored 26 points for the Pistons.

The Atlanta Hawks picked up a second win of the season by defeating the Orlando Magic 108-98. Trae Young led the scoring with 25 points and 13 assists, and John Collins scored 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Hawks. Rookie Paolo Banchero scored 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Magic.

The Utah Jazz claimed a 132-126 OT win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in their NBA clash.  Jordan Clarkson led the scoring with 29 points as Lauri Markkanen recorded 24 points and 13 rebounds for the Jazz. Anthony Edwards led all scorers with 30 points for the Timberwolves.

The Memphis Grizzlies claimed a 129-124 win over the Houston Rockets for their second win of the NBA season. Ja Morant led the scoring with 49 points for the Grizzlies as Jalen Green scored 33 points for the Rockets in the game.

Portland Trail Blazers picked up a second win of the season as they defeated the Phoenix Suns 113-111 after overtime. Damian Lillard scored 41 points for Portland as Devin Booker contributed 33 points for the Suns in the game.

The Denver Nuggets picked up an impressive 128-123 win over champions Golden State Warriors in their NBA clash. MVP Nikola Jokic led the scoring for his side with a triple-double of 26 points, 12 rebounds and ten assists. Steph Curry scored 34 points for the Warriors.
