NBA Round Up: Warriors win eighth straight as they celebrate 60th victory, Wizards clinch division

The Golden State Warriors stayed hot after cooling the Houston Rockets, while the Washington Wizards clinched the division title.

Golden State extended their winning streak to eight games and celebrated victory number 60 for the NBA season after beating the Rockets 113-106.

The Wizards claimed the Southeast Division title for the first time in 38 years after rallying past the Los Angeles Lakers 119-108.

Hassan Whiteside tipped in on the buzzer as the Miami Heat overcame the Detroit Pistons 97-96.

 

WARRIORS ROLL ON AGAINST HARDEN AND ROCKETS

Reigning MVP Steph Curry had 32 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as the Warriors became the sixth team to win at least 60 regular-season games in three consecutive seasons.

Klay Thompson added 25 points for the Warriors in Houston.

MVP contender James Harden registered his 20th triple-double of the season but it was not enough. The All-Star put up 24 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds as Houston’s four-game winning streak was ended.

 

WIZARDS END DROUGHT

John Wall’s 34 points helped the Wizards get their hands on a division title for the first time in almost four decades.

It was the longest division-tittle drought in NBA history as the Wizards won their fourth consecutive game.

 

WHITESIDE LIFTS HEAT

The Heat star made a shot as time expired away to the Pistons.

Whiteside finished with 17 points, while Goran Dragic had 28 points.

WINS FOR TRAIL BLAZERS, HAWKS

The Portland Trail Blazers were 122-113 winners over the Denver Nuggets, while the Atlanta Hawks trumped the Phoenix Suns 95-91.

Elsewhere, the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Brooklyn Nets 106-101, the Minnesota Timberwolves downed the Indiana Pacers 115-114 and the Charlotte Hornets lost 118-108 to the Milwaukee Bucks.

 

WARRIORS AND SPURS IN BLOCKBUSTER

The league’s highflyers will go head-to-head when the San Antonio Spurs host the Warriors on Wednesday.
