Ndidi scores first goal of the season as Leicester City defeat Legia

Lookman delivers assist for Foxes

Leicester City moved closer to a place in the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League with a 3-1 win over Polish side Legia Warsaw to lead the way in their group.

Leicester City opened the scoring through Zambian striker Patson Daka in the 11th minute, with the striker finishing emphatically after being set up by Harvey Barnes. It was the Zambian’s fifth goal in five Europa League matches for The Foxes.

James Maddison added a second for the Foxes ten minutes later after Super Eagles hopeful Ademola Lookman played him in. The one-cap England international waltzed his way before looping a shot into the back of the net to make it 2-0 to Leicester City.

An uncharacteristic mistake from Wilfred Ndidi saw him concede a penalty only five minutes later. Kasper Schmeichel saved the initial effort from Mahir Emreli, only for Filip Mladenovic to tuck home the rebound.

Ndidi redeemed himself shortly after for Leicester City as he made it 3-1 with a glancing header at the near post following a corner from James Maddison. It was the Nigerian’s first goal this season for the Foxes.

Leicester City are top of the group with eight points after five matches, one ahead of Spartak Moscow and Napoli on seven points each going into the final round of matches. They will face Napoli in a winner takes all clash on December 9th at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
